Our work on soil acidification recovery from reduced SO2 emissions (Zhao Y, Duan L, Xing J, Larssen T, Nielsen CP, Hao JM. Soil acidification in China: Is controlling SO2 emissions enough. Environmental Science & Technology, 43, 8021-8026, 2009) is reported by Environ Sci Technol and European Commission. In the work, the benefits of reduced SO2 emissions in China on soil acidification recovery is assessed to be largely offset by the growth of N emissions, through comparison of critical load and the predicted deposition using CMAQ simulation.
